Cultivating Leadership

Reflection: Cultivating Leadership, a profile on string's senior Musiq Williams, was my first article my senior year. I had pitched the idea to feature Musiq Williams because of her involvment in the 4-H program, and I thought that was so interesting. After being assigned to the story, I quickly got an interview from her, but I realized I would need much more information. I probably interviewed her 6-7 times to get my final product. This was because I would need some contextualization for the quotes she gave, or I would need to learn new information. My biggest issue writing the story was focusing on a specific angle. Musiq had done so much in 4-H, that it was difficult picking the things to highlight. In the end, I loved the story, Musiq loved the story, and I got a SNO badge for it!
